The Boise Co-Op is going green.
The store is installing 124 solar panels on its roof to help cut down costs on electricity. The system is big enough to power five full homes and will provide the building with 5 percent of its energy needs.
Jesse Simpson, who works for Altenergy and is tasked on working on the project, explained, “People are starting to realize that this investment in solar power is one worth making. It’s a secure investment and it makes sense. Here in Idaho, we have long days during summer with sunlight so it’s a good fit.”
The installation is expected to take three weeks.
