Accidents mar Labor Day weekend in Idaho
On Friday, August 29th, a 16-year-old from Boise was on I-86 and struck a moose which rolled his vehicle. The moose was killed on impact and a female passenger was taken via air ambulance to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello. The other occupants were taken by ground ambulance to Cassia Regional in Burley. All occupants were wearing seatbelts. Eastbound lanes of Interstate 86 were blocked for approximately two hours. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
A child was struck by a driver who was intoxicated on August 30th in Kamiah. A child was running across a parking lot when Farnham Sarkisian hit the child. Police determined that Farnham was under the influence. The incident is being investigated.
On August 30th, a driver on I-84 was headed the wrong direction on the freeway and was hit head on by a vehicle. Kelly Berry, 31, of Boise died on impact. The other driver was hospitalized.
A crash near Twin Falls killed 76-year-old Glenn Nelson of Twin Falls after his pickup truck went off the roadway on Saturday, August 30th. A 51-year-old passenger in the vehicle was taken to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.
A 54-year-old man died and two others were injured in a multi-car crash in Bingham County on August 31st. Jeffery D. Ellis of Pocatello was identified by the Bingham County Sheriff's Office as the deceased. Two others were treated and released at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
On August 31st, Clinton B. Erickson, 16 was on U.S. Highway 20 and struck a guardrail. The vehicle fell off the roadway and landed on its side. Erickson was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
