ACHD will begin pilot project to switch vehicle lanes to bike lanes

By Patricia McDonald. CREATED Apr 27, 2014
ACHD will begin their test project to replace vehicle lanes with bike lanes downtown. Crews start work Monday evening to erase existing lanes on Capitol Boulevard.

Once Capitol Boulevard is done, work will begin on Idaho and Main Street. The public will be able to test the bike lanes Thursday.

"This is something big, this is something new,” Ada County Commissioner Mitchell Jaurena said. “So we're going to see what works and what doesn't work. We may have to put more signage up…we may not have to have any signage.

ACHD says the project will cost $50 thousand. The pilot will run for at least a month.

Starting Thursday, the public will be able to sound off to ACHD about the project. People can go online to www.achdidaho.org. The public can also call ACHD or email the office with comments.
