80-year-old truck driver victim of fatal crash east of Bend, OR

The Oregon State Police (OSP) are continuing an investigation into the cause of a fatal commercial truck crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon along Highway 20 East, east of Bend in Deschutes County. The victim is identified as an 80-year old Otis, Oregon man.
According to Sergeant Keith Taylor, on October 13th around 3pm, a 1998 Freightliner truck pulling two trailers driven by Edgar Howard Collver, age 80, from Otis, was westbound on Highway 20 East near milepost 21 when, for an undetermined reason, Collver lost control.
The truck and first trailer rolled onto their top and came to rest off the highway and the second trailer came to rest blocking the westbound lane.
Collver was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was using safety restraints.
The trailers were loaded with recycled vehicle parts which spilled off the trailers. The truck is registered to Wurdinger Recycling Inc. The westbound lane was blocked until about 10:00 p.m. Sunday night.
