West Boise crash outside funeral sends nine to hospital

According to Boise Police, an elderly man unintentionally accelerated his car into a crowd of people following a funeral at West Boise Church on McMillan and Shamrock.
"To have something like this happen to families leaving a church following a funeral makes this an extraordinarily difficult incident. Our hearts are with all those involved," said Deputy Chief William Bones.
The white Toyota sedan accelerated across a church parking lot onto the sidewalk and front lawn of the church. It turned to the driver’s left before stopping on another sidewalk.
Nine people were taken to three hospitals, six were transported by ambulance, and three were taken by private vehicles.
The Boise Police Department that of the two most seriously injured, one is a five year old boy. At this time, the injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Officers have been told some of those injured are members of the same family.
The driver of the Toyota does not appear to be injured. It is unknown whether he will face charges.
