Two new 1000+ acre fires reported in Payette National Forest
McCall, Idaho – Firefighting resources are responding to two new wildfires.
The Hells Canyon 1 Fire and the Raft Fire are located approximately 10 miles west of the Mann Creek Guard Station on the Weiser Ranger District, and within the Snake River corridor. Both are likely holdover fires from lightning over the past few days.
The fires are burning on a combination of State, BLM and private lands that are under the fire protection of the Forest.
Both fires are at 1000+ acres and spreading quickly.
The Forest has 16 aircraft and three crews responding to the fires. No structures are currently threatened.
