By James Cramer. CREATED Jul 5, 2013

UPDATE:  The family of the dog saw the rescue on the news and was able to contact Canyon County Animal Shelter to pick up their dog.  The dog's name is Angus and he is 11 years old.

Nampa Fire Department received a call around 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning to assist a dog who was struggling to swim in Mason Creek in North Nampa.

Captain Chris Cade and paramedics Duane Tucker and Todd Cannon entered the creek and secured the dog. The crew was able to pull the dog up the bank, and local neighbors brought out towels to dry off the pooch.

The dog was transported to the Canyon County Animal Shelter for a checkup but seems to be OK at this point.

It is unknown who the owner is at this time, but the Nampa Fire Department wants to thank watchful neighbors for calling in the situation.
