The 15th annual Empty Bowls to benefit the Idaho Foobank Friday
Friday, Nov. 23 marks the 15th anniversary of Empty Bowls, a fundraiser for The Idaho Foodbank. The event will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Grove Plaza in downtown Boise.
"Throughout the year the Foodbank collects handcrafted and hand-painted bowls from professional and amateur artisans, students, and studios," said David Proctor with the Idaho Foodbank. "At Empty Bowls, buyers are offered the opportunity to select one (or more) of these unique bowls from thousands and then enjoy bread and a hot bowl of soup generously donated by one of several of our finest local restaurants. Bowl prices start at $10."
The 27 soups this year will include prime rib chili, vegetarian lentil curry, miso, minestrone, gluten-free potato leek, chicken noodle, enchilada and many more.
Moxie Java and Idaho musicians have combined efforts to support The Idaho Foodbank. The third volume of IdaHo-Ho-Ho with Moxie Java is a holiday celebration with music from 13 Idaho artists.
This year, featured artists such as Carole King and Micky & The Motorcars provide a wonderful way to add local flavor to any holiday atmosphere. The limited-edition CD will be available at the Record Exchange and participating Moxie Java locations throughout the Treasure Valley for $15.00. Profits will go directly to help fund the efforts of The Idaho Foodbank.
"While you enjoy your soup at Empty Bowls, we encourage you to remember that not all our Idaho neighbors are able to meet the basic need of feeding their families," said Proctor. "The funds raised by this event helps to provide free food assistance to those badly in need this winter."
