Police arrest person of interest in Payette County homicide
Police have arrested what they call a “person of interest” in a Payette County homicide.
The Payette County Sheriff’s Department says 60-year-old Sherry Kenney was found stabbed to death in her home south of Fruitland Sunday.
Deputies were called to the woman’s house at Northwest 2nd Avenue shortly before 7 a.m.
Payette County Sheriff Chad Huff stressed that the death was not the result of a home invasion robbery, and that the victim and person of interest knew each other. They did not elaborate.
Officials put out information to the media and other law enforcement agencies to be looking for Tyler Naughton, 18, who was possibly driving a tan 2006 Ford F-350 pick-up.
At about 9 p.m. Sunday, Naughton and the truck –- which police say was stolen -– were located in Adams County by an Idaho State Police trooper.
Naughton was taken into custody.
