11th Annual Concert for Cause raises funds for the Women's and Children's Alliance
The holidays can be especially hard for people dealing with crisis in their lives, but the Women's and Children's Alliance in Boise is making it a full-time mission to help the hurting right here in our own backyard.
Some of the stories that come out of the WCA women's shelter are nothing short of a miracle. "One of our clients told me that her child has been writing to Santa every year,” said WCA Director Beatrice Black, “and of course they seal it and walk it to the mailbox so she never knew what was in it, but this year her child told her he was getting what he wanted, which is, he had always been writing to Santa saying he wanted a happy mom. And part of her becoming happy was getting out of the negative relationship that she was in. That’s the kind of transformation that happens for our clients."
On Wednesday night, volunteers put last-minute touches on donated Christmas packages for 108 local women and children, making sure they have a blessed Christmas.
Meanwhile, the Knitting Factory was busy gearing up for the Concert for Cause. Singer/songwriter Tyrone Wells headlined the show to benefit the shelter. Idaho on Your Side is proud to be a sponsor of concert each year.
From autographed guitars and footballs to dinners and vacations, the event had plenty of items to choose from in their silent and live auction.
The concert raised over $20,000. The money will help keep the WCA going, and it will also give women and their kids a new start and new hope, something that happens daily.
