  • Here are our sweet maltese/yorkie pups -Sam and Ruby (and me, but it's all about the puppies!) This shot is a one in a million -- not sure my husband will ever capture such lip-smacking perfection again. They were licking their lips after having a tasty snack trying to savor every last morsel of flavor while hubby was trying to take some nice photos in our backyard. Who'd have guessed their tongues would be captured in unison? Had I known they were licking their chops, I'd have done the same thing just so I fit in the picture better! ~Jennifer (and William) Ballard in Meridian

  • We know it's Spring when Mama Duck makes her nest under one of our shrubs in our enclosed back yard. She has nested here 4 out of the last 5 years. When the babies hatch, she brings them up to the patio to show them off, eats a breakfast of cracked corn, then takes me to one of 2 gates to let them all out. The babies follow her off to a nearby canal. We do not see her again until the following spring. We can recognize her from other ducks because she has very distinctive markings and begins eating from the bowl before I even set it down. (The other mallards in our neighborhood are not that fearless!) She has the same drake with her each year - he also has distinctive markings. He often stands on our roof watching over the back yard where she is nesting - our own live weather vane! James & Jeanne PaulsEagle ID 8361 James and Jeanne Pauls

  • I am in Boise visiting family and brought my three dogs with me. I am originally from here but live in LA now so I knew the girls wouldn't be used to the icy weather. Before we came I packed all their cold weather gear...and it was a good thing! They love the snow but it's chilly!!! (sorry if this is a resubmission, I'm having computer problems and it keeps reloading).

  • Myles is the alpha kitty in a clowder or 3. He patrols the house and all of the outside territory. His has had injuries while on patrol, but he always gets right back on duty as soon as he is able. I adopted Myles and his brother Buckley 10 years ago from the Idaho Humane Society in Boise. We also have his grandmother (my mother) and her cat Kirby living with us. Myles does an outstanding job taking care of us all.
