Spencer Blake joined the Good Morning Idaho team in June of 2011 and was nominated for a regional Emmy for anchor/producing in 2012. He comes to the Treasure Valley from Wichita Falls, Texas, where he worked as a morning anchor/reporter for the CBS affiliate, KAUZ. Spencer graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brigham Young University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a broadcast journalism emphasis and minored in music. There he was a reporter, producer, and both a news and weather anchor for the student-run BYU Daily News, which broadcasts internationally.
Before he ever knew he wanted to pursue a career in TV news, Spencer served a two-year mission in Argentina for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He’s fluent in Spanish. It was his love of people (and talking) that got him interested in journalism.
While he was born and raised in Midland, Texas, Spencer lives much closer to family in the western states now. He and his wife Whitney have been married for 6 years and have two little boys, Mason and Kellen. The Blakes are advocates for adoption, which made their family what it is today.
Together they enjoy stand-up comedy, "The Mentalist," people watching, and photography. Even when Spencer dons blue and orange for the Broncos, he’ll always be a die-hard BYU football fan.
