Courtney Ann Sanford, 32, crashed head-on into a truck and died on Business 85 in High Point, N.C., Thursday morning while on her way to work. Sanford had just posted to Facebook that she was "happy."
According to FOX 8, "The happy song makes me HAPPY!" read Sanford's Facebook status, posted moments before her death.
“The Facebook text happened at 8:33 a.m. We got the call on the wreck at 8:34 a.m.,” Lt. Chris Weisner, High Point Police Department, tells FOX 8. Further investigation also found evidence that Sanford was likewise posting selfies while driving. Her friends alerted police to the posts.
“In a matter of seconds, a life was over just so she could notify some friends that she was happy," Lt. Wesiner further tells FOX 8. "As sad as it is, it is a grim reminder for everyone . . . you just have to pay attention while you are in the car."
Truck driver John Wallace Thompson, 73, was run off of the road and into a tree by Sanford, but was not injured. Sanford's car also went off of the road, and caught on fire after impact.
