Michael Scotto, NY1 channel reporter, recently interviewed Rep. Michael Grimm, 43, a former Marine and undercover FBI agent, and current second-term Republican who represents Staten Island alongside other areas of New York City. The interview, however, ended in out-of-control threats.
After Scotto asked about Grimm's opinion on President Obama's speech, he then began to ask about rumors of campaign-finance violations during Grimm's 2010 election, which has been under federal investigation for two years. Grimm first warned him not to go off-topic, then walked away without answer.
But with the the camera still recording, Grimm returned to Scotto and hissed, "If you ever do that to me again, I'll throw you off this f***ing balcony." The reporter and congressman can be heard arguing before Grimm audibly added, "You're not man enough. I'll break you in half. Like a boy."
@repmichaelgrimm called to apologize. He said he "overreacted." I accepted his apology.— Michael Scotto (@mikescotto) January 29, 2014
Grimm has since apologized to Scotto, and the reporter chose to not press charges.
