"Swimmy Fallon" took a bitter plunge Sunday to secure Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel as a "Tonight Show" guest by taking an active part in the city's annual Polar Plunge in Lake Michigan. Emanuel, who also took the plunge, is friends with President Barack Obama and a former White House chief of staff.
I'm here Chicago! It is COLD. You are not making this easy. #PolarPlunge— jimmy fallon (@jimmyfallon) March 2, 2014
Fallon, a "New York fish," in his usual hosting suit and tie, ran into the estimated 32 degree chilled lake with an air temperature reading of 10 degrees. He was surrounded by fans sporting stylish neckties in solidarity.
"Mayor Emanuel agreed to the brief winter swim after Chicago children read more than two million books in the city's Summer Learning Challenge," reports the Chicago Tribune.
Post-plunge, Emanuel is not yet confirmed as an official "Tonight Show" scheduled guest.
