Many people enjoy a little protein in their salads, but they’d likely draw the line at a lizard head.
That’s exactly the nasty surprise a New York woman found in the kale salad she ordered from Manhattan deli Guy & Gallard Tuesday afternoon.
The salad was delivered to customer Robin Sandusky, 31, a theatrical coordinator with Rodgers and Hammerstein, but as she began eating it she saw what she at first thought was a piece of asparagus, until she noticed the eyeball.
“I just grossed out,” she told the New York Daily News on Tuesday of finding the lizard head in her food. “I’m going to be fine tomorrow, but right now I’m still a little freaked out.”
The dell, which has an A grade from the department of health, refunded her money and offered her a new salad, which she declined.
The deli staff says they couldn’t find the lizard head in the salad once the woman returned it, but the company is investigating.
Sandusky “had been ordering lunch from the restaurant for two weeks without incident,” the Daily News reports. “But her salad days there are over.
As WPIX New York reports in the video above, it’s reminiscent of a December incident in which a customer at another restaurant found an entire dead frog in their salad.
