Iowa law firm pushing 'Oh Crap' app to help drunk drivers
There is a new smartphone app that is designed to help people who have had a little too much to drink.
The "Oh Crap" app, created by an Iowa law firm, tells people what they can and cannot do when being pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving.
The app gives information about basic rights, and has a blood alcohol calculator and an emergency "Oh Crap" button for when a person is being stopped.
The "Oh Crap" button turns on the phone's voice recorder. That audio could be valuable if a driver decided to fight a drunk driving charge.
In addition, the app gives advice such as "the less you say the better" and "be polite." And, of course, it tells people to "lawyer up."
Creators say the app has been downloaded about 4,000 times since it was released last year.
