TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)- It began as a simple game on the playground back in elementary school.
The definition of dodgeball is a game in which players on two teams try to throw large balls at each other while avoiding being hit. The objective- to eliminate all members of the opposing team.
In 2004 this movie Dodgeball unleashed a floodgate of interest in the sport, that's when one local player, Steven Damon decided to create Team Evil.
"We've been around for almost ten years now and we actually practice and travel, we go to regional qualifying tourneys," said Damon.
During the season, this Tucson team spends hours together and that's what makes them one of the best in the West.
"A lot of us can make a play without saying anything to each other," added Dylan Tobia.
And nobody is complaining about winning, but players say the best part of the game is having fun.
"Everyone has a nickname that has derived over the course of time and sometimes are personalities may play into that," said Damon.
Team Evil's goal is to get to nationals in Las Vegas coming up in August.
