Jim Rosborough to Honorary Coach in Pima Opener

Tucson, AZ - The Pima Community College men's basketball team will have a familiar face on the bench for its regular season opener.

Jim Rosborough, former University of Arizona and Pima men's basketball assistant coach, will join assistant coaches Mike Morgan, Daron Cross and Tommy Romano as an honorary coach when the Aztecs open their season against LA College Prep on Nov. 4 at the West Campus.

"It will be fun to sit on the bench, be close to the action and see what Brian has this year," Coach Rosborough said. "Brian has been a friend for a long time and I'm happy to help him out."

Coach Rosborough was an assistant coach on Pima's 2009-10 team when the Aztecs finished in seventh place at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. To this day, this has been the program's best finish.

"My time at Pima was wonderful. I really enjoyed it almost as much as anything I've done in my coaching career."

Pima head coach Brian Peabody will have to sit out Pima's opener because former coach Gabriel Van Guse was ejected in the final regular season game last season. According to Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) procedures, the coach is suspended for the following game.
