Ironwood Ridge wins first ever state softball title

Tempe (KGUN9-TV) Behind the pitching of Emily Robinson, Ironwood Ridge wins its first ever state title with a 2-1 victory over CDO.

Despite the two schools being Oro Valley rivals, the game was played at Arizona State's Farrington Stadium. The division 2 win is the Nighthawks first ever state title. CDO has won eight champsionships.

Ironwood Ridge scores one of its runs on a 3rd inning bases loaded walk and another in the 4th inning when Robyn Porter knocked in Reyna Bondi.

Rebecca Ziegler scored CDO's lone run.

Arizona Softball head coach Mike Candrea attended the game.
