TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)- It was the first night for high school football in the Old Pueblo. Salpointe, the reigning state champs, won its 15th straight game on Friday 48-9 over Buena.
Just south of Tucson, Sahuarita kicked things off with the Coaches for Charity game with last year's DIV champions, Blue Ridge. The Mustangs' Calvin Williams showed why he is the starting quarterback this season, he hooked up with wide receiver Allyn Williams for a big touchdown in the first half to put the Mustangs up 9-0. They went on to beat the Yellow Jackets 30-8.
Ironwood Ridge was on the road but came up short. The Nighthawks fell to Peoria Liberty 24-20.
