TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Battlefield chow is getting an upgrade for the military. MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) or Meals Regurgitate to Eat as they're called by some soldiers, are going gourmet.
The battlefield cuisine has been around since Word War One and is designed to last ten years or more before consumption.
The military is re-designing MRE's after consulting with the military members who eat them. Gone are the early days of beans and salt pork, hello barbecue beef, taco pasta and seasoned black beans.
Good Morning Tucson decided to put the Bag-O-Food to the taste test by sampling Chicken and Dumplings.
Check out both parts of our video.
