TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A fatal rollover crash involving a semi-truck and a car has killed one person and left two more in critical condition.
Just before 1:00 a.m., Northwest Fire District units responded to eastbound I-10, just east of the Marana exit, for a passenger vehicle that was traveling westbound and rolled over into eastbound lanes of traffic, according to Capt. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire.
The passesnger vehicle was then struck by an eastbound semi truck belonging to Albertsons delivery, Goldberg said.
There were three male occupants in the passenger vehicle. One was pronounced dead at scene, the remaining two suffered critical life-threatening injuries and were transported to the trauma center at UAMC, according to Goldberg.
Northwest firefighters had to use the Jaws-of-Life to free one of the men who was trapped in the car.
One was flown by helicopter and one was taken by ground ambulance. The truck driver was not injured in the incident, Goldberg said.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says eastbound I-10 is now back open at the Marana exit.
