Two women injured while hiking at Sabino Canyon

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two women fell and hit their heads in separate accidents Monday while hiking in the Seven Falls area at Sabino Canyon.

Deputy Tracy Suitt with the Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 that deputies responded to the area first at Noon and then again at 2:00 p.m. for two 19-year-old women hit their heads and became disoriented.

The first woman fell about 20 feet and received bruises as well as an injured wrist. She was taken by Life Line helicopter to a local hospital for treatment. 

The second woman also fell about 20 feet but was stuck between a canyon wall and a large boulder. Crews had to hike to her location by ground, and also after being dropped off by helicopter.

The second woman fell about 20 feet and hit her head. Deputy Suitt says she was dizzy and could not get up.

She was taken be an Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter to the Southern Arizona Search and Rescue House near the entrance to Sabino Canyon. From there, a Life Line helicopter took her to the hospital for treatment.
