UAPD officer charged with super extreme DUI terminated
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The University of Arizona has confirmed that Sgt. John McGrath is no longer employed by the university.
Andrea Smiley with UA Communications tells KGUN9 that McGrath is no longer employed by the University of Arizona Police Department.
On February 1, police received a call regarding a single vehicle that had crashed into a wall near Speedway and Interstate 10.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a UAPD vehicle driven by on-duty officer McGrath was involved in the crash.
McGrath was charged with Super Extreme DUI, which occurs when a person has a blood alcohol content .20 or above. He was also charged for failure to control speed to avoid a collision and misdemeanor for criminal damage.
