UA struggles to raise funds for Old Main renovation
TUCSON (KGUN-TV) - The University of Arizona's efforts to raise funds to renovate its Old Main building are going slower than expected.
The UA has collected $2.7 million of the $13.5 million it needs to fund the project, which will create an office suite for the school president, as well as repair the building's foundation and veranda, spokesman Chris Sigurdson said. Fundraising efforts began in April 2013.
If the UA can't collect the full $13.5 million, the project will be placed on hold. The UA's Board of Regents approved the renovation of the 1891 building only if it's funded entirely by donations.
