Two million passwords hacked: Tips on how to protect your accounts

By Stella Inger. CREATED Dec 5, 2013

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two million people's passwords are at risk after someone hacked into some social media giants. Experts say in this case, most of the users all had the same passwords.

The most common passwords?

1-2-3-4-5-6, "password," "admin, " I love you," or a straight row of keys on your keyboard like "qwerty".

Tech experts say to keep your accounts secure, pick a password that has a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters.

And change it every few weeks.

Now the good news, those sites that were hacked are contacting users to alert them.

I'm Stella Inger. I hope you'll join Guy Atchley and me tonight at 5 ... 6.. and 10. You can always join the conversation at kgun9.com, Facebook and Twitter.

Have a great day!
