Tucson teenager killed in crash near Salt River Canyon
GLOBE, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A Tucson teen was killed and another was injured in a crash on December 24.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety tells KGUN9 they responded to a vehicle fatal collision on US 60 at milepost 297 around 7 p.m.
A vehicle was traveling Westbound at a high rate of speed when it failed to negotiate a curve.
The vehicle traveled off the roadway, coming to rest approximately 1000 feet down the Salt River Canyon, according to AZDPS.
The 19-year-old driver, Matthew Teschner, sustained fatal injuries.
The passenger, 19-year-old Kimberly Montoya, was injured and transported to a hospital for medical care.
AZDPS is investigating the circumstances that lead to the fatal crash.
