Tucson firefighters pull man from burning home
Tucson firefighters say someone called 9-1-1 to report that a house was on fire in the 700 block of West Florence Street around 1:00 a.m. Saturday.
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man is recovering in the hospital after his home caught fire early Saturday morning.
Capt. Chris Jurvig with the Tucson Fire Department tells KGUN9 that someone called 9-1-1 to report that a house was on fire in the 700 block of West Florence Street around 1:00 a.m. Saturday.
The caller also told police that someone was still inside the burning home.
Once on scene, firefighters noticed that a man was inside and they could see the blaze behind him, according to Jurvig.
Firefighters forced open a security door and pulled the disoriented man out of the home, Jurvig said.
Paramedics transported the man to the hospital while firefighters put out the blaze and cut a hole in the roof of the home to alleviate the smoke.
Fire investigators still don't know what caused the fire.
Jurvig wishes to remind the community that is it important to have two ways of exiting your home. He says knowing how to get out of your home and having a properly installed smoke alarm could be the difference between life and death.
