Police arrest man in child abuse case
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)- Detectives from the Tucson Dependent Child Unit are investigating a child abuse case, involving a two month old baby who was reportedly dropped on her head by her father.
The baby girl was originally brought to Kino Hospital Tuesday morning with serious, life threatening injuries, according to police. She was then transferred to University of Arizona Medical Center, due to the severity of her condition.
Detectives determined the child's father, identified as 18-year-old Anthony Esparza, intentionally dropped her, causing serious head trauma.
Esparza was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail for one count of child abuse.
The baby remains in the hospital in critical condition.
