Tropical Depression Ivo no longer threat to land
MIAMI (AP) - The Mexican government has lifted all watches and warnings after Ivo (EEH'-voh) weakened to a tropical depression in the eastern Pacific. Tropical-force winds are still possible, however, over portions of the Baja California peninsula.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Sunday that Ivo was centered about 165 miles (265 kms) west of Cabo San Lazaro, and about 185 miles (300 kms) south of Punta Eugenia.
Ivo had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph) and was moving northwest at 9 mph (15 kph).
The Hurricane Center said Ivo was also still creating surf swells on the peninsula and would bring possible heavy rain and flash flooding into the Southwestern United States.
Ivo was expected to weaken further later Sunday.
