Tips for protecting yourself while tax scammers work overtime

By Stella Inger. CREATED Feb 21, 2014

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The dirty dozen list is out.

The IRS has released its annual report of the most common tax scams.

Here are some of them...

Identity theft---con artists love to go after your social security number so they can grab your refund.

Phone scams--- callers falsely demand back taxes from victims.

And false promises of inflated refunds---honest tax preparers don't make wild claims.

We sat down with an IRS spokesman and found out how some of the "too good to be true" scams work.

The IRS website has a whole list of scams and Youtube videos to help you so that you don't get scammed!

I'm Stella Inger. I hope you'll join Guy Atchley and me tonight at 5, 6, and 10 and join the conversation at kgun9.com, Facebook and Twitter.

Have a great day!
