Tempe bar fined $6K for serving underage student
PHOENIX (AP) - State regulators have fined a Tempe bar $6,000 for serving an underage Arizona State University student who later was found dead.
The Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control says that according to a consent agreement, Cadillac Ranch must use scanning devices to check the age of customers and maintain a record of identifications checked through Aug. 15, 2015.
The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/1aSYHdC) says the bar's owners must also file a security plan and all employees must sign a document acknowledging that they understand the plan.
A 19-year-old ASU student was kicked out of the bar on Nov. 30 on suspicion of being drunk while attending a sorority event.
His body was found Dec. 16 in the Salt River and Tempe police eventually concluded that he had drowned.
