MARANA (KGUN9-TV) - A serious two car accident sent two people to the hospital shut down a north west side intersection Sunday morning.
When Northwest Firefighters responded to the scene near North Lon Adams Road and North Tangerine Farms Road, they discovered what they describe as a head-on type collision. One of the vehicles involved was on fire, Captain Adam Goldberg said.
Firefighters identified the driver of the car on fire as an 18-year-old man. The driver of the other car was a 24-year-old man.
One person had to be taken to the trauma center by ground. The other patient involved was air lifted from the scene, Goldberg said.
Both were taken to University of Arizona Medical Center's trauma center in serious condition, firefighters said.
Marana Police are investigating the incident and eastbound Tangerine Farms Road will be closed to traffic for an unknown amount of time.
