TEP customers are the target of a new type of scam

By Stella Inger. CREATED Mar 10, 2014

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A fraud warning from Tucson Electric Power. They're asking customers to watch out for callers who falsely claim to be TEP employees.

Someone is calling people up with the claim that their service is in danger of being shut off-  because of unpaid bills.

The caller tells the customer to buy a pre-paid money card to avoid loss of service.

TEP says the best thing to do is hang up. Real TEP employees never ask customers to buy pre-paid cards of any kind.

I'm Stella Inger. I hope you'll join Guy Atchley and me tonight at 5, 6, and 10.

Have a great day!
