Storms cause up to 10,000 to lose power
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - As much as 10,000 customers lost power Tuesday after storms moved through the Tucson area.
Joe Barrios with Tucson Electric Power tells KGUN9 that the outage is mostly affecting customers south of the metro area, but north of Green Valley and Sahuarita.
As of about 9 p.m. 100 customers were still without power. Most of them being in the Tucson Estates area.
The cause of the outage is the storm activity and high wind gusts.
Power poles are also reported down on Pima Mine Road, near Old Nogales Highway. Barrios says at least 12 poles will need to be replaced.
Barrios says reports are coming in from all over town, and crews are working to restore service as soon as possible.
