SOUTH TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - South Tucson Police recently purchased a K9 for patrol for the first time in 10 years.

Lt. Jeff Inorio tells KGUN9 that “Enrique” is a 16-month-old German Shepherd from the Czech Republic. He will be a dual purpose K9 used for the detection of narcotics and patrol.

South Tucson Police recently received the body armor for Enrique from donations from Catalina Foothills High School Football Booster Club and the local charity Protect Police K9.

An award ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m. on September 6, before the Catalina Foothills home football game.

Catalina Foothills is located at 4300 E. Sunrise Dr.

Sgt. Thomas Schenek and Enrique will accept the donation and bring out the game ball.
