Shooting incident prompts police to shutdown multiple schools
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Several schools were locked down around noon Monday following a shooting incident near midtown.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with the Tucson Police Department tells KGUN9 that someone called 9-1-1 to report that shots were fired in the 3200 block of North Stone just after 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Police advised Amphitheater High School, Amphitheater Middle School, Prince Elementary School, and the Rillito Center to go on lockdown as a precaution.
Mindy Black with the Amphitheater Unified School District says the school were locked down from approximately 12:45 p.m. to 12:55 p.m.
Widmer says it does not appear that anyone was injured in the shooting incident.
The suspects and victims left the scene, Widmer said.
Police are now on scene hoping to speak to witnesses and learn more about the potential suspects.
