Series of suspicious fires break out in Phoenix
PHOENIX (AP) - Fire investigators in Phoenix are trying to find out if a series of fires that broke out early Thursday are connected to the same arsonist.
Capt. Larry Nunez says a home, two cars, and two alley fires were reported in a half-mile radius in the hours in the hours before daybreak. No one was hurt but television footage from KTVK-TV shows the apartment had significant damage and a car torched in a school parking lot also was badly damages.
Nunez says another fire in a pile of debris several miles away was discovered after dawn and may also be connected.
The fires were discovered between 28th and 36th streets near Thomas Road.
