Police: Man arrested for attempting to lure a minor
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Thomas Michael Sherlock, 57, has been arrested and charged after he posted an advertisement attempting to meet a young female for companionship.
Sgt. Maria Hawke tells KGUN9 that on August 1, detectives with the Tucson Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit began communicating with the male, who posted an advertisement looking for female companionship.
During their communications, the male believed he was interacting with an underage female, said Hawke. He specifically solicited the fictitious underage female to participate in sexual acts and sent “her” explicit photographs.
As a result of the communication between the male and a detective, who was pretending to be the fictitious underage female, a meeting was scheduled.
On August 8, the man arrived for the prearranged meeting, expecting to encounter an underage female with whom he believed he had been interacting.
Instead, detectives and personnel from the United States Marshal’s Service detained him and took him into custody, said Hawke.
Sherlock has been charged with one count of aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and one count of attempted sexual conduct with a minor.
