Phoenix police detective accused of drunk driving
PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a Phoenix police detective is on paid administrative leave and facing a possible charge of extreme drunk driving.
Police say Det. Lori Demski was arrested Aug. 11 after she was spotted driving near her home.
A neighbor alerted authorities that the 36-year-old Demski might be driving drunk.
The Arizona Republic says Phoenix Municipal Court records show Demski is accused of extreme DUI, which indicates a blood-alcohol content of .15 or greater.
The legal limit is .08.
Court records indicate that tests at the scene determined Demski had a blood-alcohol level of at least .20.
But prosecutors are awaiting official toxicology results to show exactly how much alcohol Demski may have had in her system.
Demski is a nine-year veteran and police say an internal investigation is underway.
