Oro Valley police warn of mail thief, give important tips
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Oro Valley police wants the community to be on alert after someone stole mail from neighborhood mailboxes this weekend.
Lt. Kara Riley with the Oro Valley Police Department tells 9OYS that a significant number of mailboxes were broken into in between December 21 and 22.
The affected neighborhoods include Seasons Loop Ave and Sterling, Heather Glenn Place and Legacy Place and Eton Drive and First Ave.
Witnesses told police they saw a black, Ford F-150 pick-up truck in the area where the thefts occurred, according to Riley.
Police suggest the people living in these areas check their bank accounts and credit card statements and notify police if they notice an unusual activity.
Police also warn against sending money in the mail and leaving packages outside for long periods of time.
If you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood this holiday season or if you have any information about the stolen mail, call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
