Officials look into elk death in northern Arizona
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Game and Fish Department is investigating what officials believe is a case of elk poaching.
The spike bull elk was killed Nov. 9 on the Coconino National Forest near the Blue Ridge Estates subdivision. The department says elk were not in season at the time.
Wildlife manager Garret Fabian says the entire animal had been left to waste when the meat could have been salvaged and donated.
Officers have little evidence to determine what happened and are asking the public to come forward with information.
