Nearly every parent I know has told me to kiss my sleep goodbye when I become a parent. Now there is research to back it up.
A recent study shows that parents lose 44 days of sleep in the first year of their child’s life. The top reasons for the sleepless nights are pretty obvious. Parents are up at night feeding their baby, calming the child when they cry and waking up worrying.
On average, a new parent will get five hours of sleep a night. It is recommended all adults get at least eight hours of sleep.
