Murder trial to focus on defendant's mental health

KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A murder defendant's mental health is expected to be a major focus of his upcoming murder trial in Kingman in the shotgun killing and dismemberment of a man who lived with the defendant and his family.

George Allen Loader will go on trial May 20 in Mohave County Superior Court in the 2011 killing of 51-year-old John Oppenheim, whom Loader suspected of molesting Loader's young daughter.

The Kingman Daily Miner reports that an examination reportedly revealed the girl had not been victimized.

Defense attorney Christian Ackerley said Monday during a hearing that he would argue that Loader was insane when he cut up Oppneheim's body and set fire to parts of it in the desert but not insane earlier when he shot Oppenheim in the face.
