TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A Tucson woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl 66 days after her water broke.
Jennifer Hayes was 24 weeks pregnant when she was rushed into labor and delivery at Tucson Medical Center, because her water broke.
“I was scared,” she said, “because it was so early.”
The best option for Hayes, according to Dr. Hugh Miller, was to put off labor for as long as possible.
”It wouldn't have been a foregone conclusion that she would have lost her child, but it would have been highly likely,” explained Dr. Miller.
Hayes stayed in the hospital where she and the baby were constantly monitored. After 66 days, she went into labor and gave birth to a healthy 4lb 10oz. baby girl.
Her daughter, Tatiana, spent 12 days in the Natal Intensive Care Unit for checking, but Hayes said she was perfectly healthy and is still doing great today.
