TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Deer Head fire in the Rincons is growing, but the monsoon is keeping it in check for now.
The lightning-sparked blaze is now estimated to have burned 229 acres.
Crews will conduct back burning operations to establish a safety line.
Monsoon humidity is keeping the flames on the ground.
National park officials say Tucsonans may notice smoke settling on the east side from time to time. Several back-country trails are closed.
