TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Memorial services have been scheduled to remember and honor Dave Sitton.
Sitton was a longtime sports broadcaster in Tucson, announcing University of Arizona basketball and football games.
He also ran for congress after Gabrielle Giffords resigned. He died Monday morning.
A public Celebration of Life is planned for 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the McKale Center on The University of Arizona campus. All who knew and were touched in their lives by Dave are invited and welcome to join family and friends in remembering Dave, and celebrating his life.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The program will include a tribute to Dave, his many contributions and positive influences on the Tucson community, and scheduled speakers who will represent the many different organizations and groups with whom Dave was connected.
Parking is available on campus, and will be free on Sunday. Lots in close proximity to McKale Center include Cherry Avenue Garage, Hillenbrand pool lot east of McKale, and the mirror lab lot immediately east of Arizona Stadium. A detailed map of campus parking lots is available online here.
A private rosary service and mass are planned for Friday and Saturday. The public is strongly encouraged to attend the celebration of life at McKale on Sunday.
