Man found shot in car that crossed freeway lanes
PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a man found dead in a car that twice crossed four lanes of interstate highway may have shot himself.
Sgt. Trent Crump says the investigation continues but he says the car drove through a frontage road fence and down onto Interstate 17's southbound lanes Monday.
It hit a median wall and careened back across the southbound lanes before stopping a short distance past the shoulder.
Crump says it's amazing that the car struck only one vehicle, causing minor damage to a pickup but not injuring its driver.
Crump says only the dead man was in the car and that the shot apparently was fired inside.
He says police haven't yet ruled out the possibility that somebody else was in the car before it went onto the freeway.
