TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)- A man died Saturday night after he was hit by a car in midtown.
The victim was walking westbound on the north side of Speedway Boulevard near Swan Road when he fell into the road, according to Tucson Police Sgt. Chris Widmer. He was reportedly hit by a car traveling in the curb lane.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the man had life threatening injures. Medical officials took him to the hospital, where he later died, Widmer said.
The driver of the car was not injured. Officers did not issue any citations. The identity of the victim will be released when police notify his family.
So far this year, 19 pedestrians, three bicyclists and five motorcyclists have died from vehicle related accidents, Tucson Police said.
